Veil of Darkness Intro - Roland MT-32/LAPC1 with Sound Effects

613 views 1 year ago
This is the Intro to Veil of Darkness with a Roland MT-32/LAPC1 (Roland CM-500 MODE B) as played in game via DOSBox v,74. I mixed the music with the sound effects that you can only hear if you set the sound options to Soundblaster (I recorded the video with DOSBox and turned off the Soundblaster MIDI music). Show less

Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers - Roland Sound Canvas Play

Music from Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers by Robert Holmes as played through a Roland Sound Canvas (Roland CM-500 MODE C). Music is identical to that as played in game via DosBox. For convenience these are the extracted MIDI files as found from http://queststudios.com/quest/gk.html

The Music of Ultima VIII: Pagan on a Roland Sound Canvas Play

This is a collection of the music for the game Ultima VIII: Pagan as played through a Roland Sound Canvas (Roland CM-500 MODE C), which the game was originally designed and composed on.

Sound track was composed by Neno Vugrinec

The Music of Ultima VIII: Pagan on a Roland JV-1080 Play

This will be the entire soundtrack of Ultima VIII: Pagan as played through the Roland JV-1080 as played in game using DOSBox v.74.

Long technical/boring stuff: While using the Sound Canvas mode when capturing RAW data when playing Ultima VIII, I have yet to find one single program change for the Sound Canvas that specifically uses an alternate sound/instrument that is found on the Sound Canvas (like for example, the exclusive sounds only found on a higher end MT-32 on Ultima Underworld). Which leads me to believe the original score WAS written as a GM piece, however using the Sound Canvas. Even further evidence, such as when using the Sound Canvas mode, it sends a GM RESET (Not a GS Reset) at the start of the game. Which was either a mistake on Origin's part or something different.

The Sounds/Instruments of the Roland JV-1080 are what I consider a more improved and better quality Instruments of a Sound Canvas (excluding the "alternate instruments") and thus the reason for recording these, so that you the listener can find which version sounds the best.

Quest For Glory I EGA - Music And Sounds MT-32 (CM-500) Play

This is a collection of Music and sounds found in the Quest For Glory I - So You Want To Be A Hero EGA Video Game as played through a Roland MT-32 (CM-500). The CM-500 is the "Higher End" Mt-32 that has special sounds not available on a regular MT-32.

The Music and Sound Effects for Quest For Glory I EGA were specifically written for a Higher End Roland MT-32.

The RPG Codex Gentleman's Club of Fine Music Play

Some of the finest classic game music all played through the original and prestigious Roland MT-32 (as well as the Roland Sound Canvas). Not a fake emulated Roland MT-32 but a real one. Was getting tired of seing all the crap videos on here with fake emulated versions of a MT-32 of these fine classic video game music gems.
