Ian McKinnon is a highland piper and tin whistle player based in Nova Scotia, Canada who is best known to audiences around the world as a member of Celtic Rock group, Rawlins Cross. Outside of Rawlins Cross, McKinnon has collaborated on other musical projects including Air Races (with organist Gayle h. Martin) and MacKinnons Brook Suite. This Celtic Symphonic work has been performed with symphony orchestras across Canada and won the East Coast Music Award for Classical Recording of the Year in 2002. The CBC produced a television program centered on the suite which aired nationally on Out Front in 2002.
