IBEC President Julie O'Neill said: "A yes vote is vital to the interests of this country and will provide greater certainty about our economic future. A yes vote will keep Ireland's recovery on track and provide a platform for investment, growth and job creation. A no vote would be a dangerous step into the unknown that would leave Ireland on the side-lines of Europe and add to our economic difficulties.
"It is crucial that Ireland does not become the only eurozone country without access to the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) insurance policy. Its existence and the recourse that all eurozone countries will have to the fund is an essential part of restoring confidence and economic stability. A successful return to the markets and the restoration of Ireland's economic independence will be made much more difficult if we reject the treaty.
"The treaty is not the solution to all our current difficulties, but it is part of the solution. Sensible and robust fiscal rules are in the interest of both Ireland and Europe. If Ireland and Irish business is to prosper, create jobs and generate growth we need to draw a line under the European debt crisis. The treaty is part of that process."
