Our family cat named "Leeloo" made an impressive jump from a parked car in our driveway to a second story balcony ledge after lots of careful consideration and evaluating her options as well as a little bit of spirited human encouragement.
She makes this jump on a regular basis to gain a higher perspective from the riffraff of other cats, people, and bothersome activity that occurs on the ground level. To make the jump, she has to figure out exactly how she's going to land by barely passing through the gaps between the iron rods of the balcony banisters. She probably jumps about 5 to 7 ft. to clear it when coming off of a sedan (future video to come), but off the van it's about 5 ft. The narrow space that she clears on the balcony railings is about twice her body width or less. She sometimes jumps from one balcony to the other (future video to come also), and that requires the same carefulness and skill to clear the narrow gaps between the metal bars of the balcony railings. Sometimes when inside, we will hear her meow from the balcony wanting to come inside and so she has trained us (not the other way around as any cat owner knows) to open the balcony door to let her inside. She is quite the diva, but is one of the most beautiful cats with such a talkative personality.
