He heard a faint voice in his ear "We've been waiting for you..." it whispered as he looked over his shoulder, again in the other ear "you've finally made it..." He turned around fully looking down the trail seeing nothing but darkness. His eyes widened realizing the trail behind him was gone in darkness completely. A whisper again "He's here..." The man turned around hearing another whisper as he did "Watching you..." The man's heart began to race as he froze hearing more whispers. "Waiting for you to come..." he heard in his ear again, "Follow..." One said again seeing a spirit form quickly next to him and shot down the trail into darkness. The man began to walk down the trail again. Lifeless bodies continued to stare at him as he walked down the trail. To his surprise the trail lit with moon light as he reached a still lake, the area lit by the moon. The trees chopped down and removed except for one. As he grew closer he whispers again "In the tree..." it said, "He waits for you by hollow lake..." It said again, "Go..." it said finally and shooting back into the darkness of the trail. He slowly walked towards the lifeless tree seeing it only grow in size as he drew closer.
The man looked around him seeing a similar fog cover the lake and what he made out now to be tombstones surrounding him. Each different but nameless. What is this place..? He thought to himself. He approached the tree noticing a menacing scythe sticking out of the ground, noticing now a man sitting on a branch in the tree accented by the moonlight. The man quickly clenched his sword again only to hear a whisper again "it won't save you..." Another whisper spoke "You can't fight..." And another "You won't win..." The man's hood kept his face completely black. "So you have finally come." He said rather darkly and he turned his head to the man showing the darkness of his inner hood. The man dropped from the tree landing on his feet without making a sound. "W...Who are you?" he asked as he witnessed the man raise his hand towards the scythe watching only how it flew to his hand without question. "I have been called many things." He said in the same tone as he heard whispers again "Reaper..." And another "Fate..." And another "Darkness..." and finally "Death...". He walked closer to the man with his scythe held at his side with the blade outstretching from the staff. "This is my world; forever shrouded in darkness, you making it here this far is quite an accomplishment. Most souls are lost on the trail or taken by the forest." He said in the same tone. "You see..." He added, "You have to die first to make it here... Anubis" he said darkly.
Anubis's eyes widened realizing now the trail was only what was inside him. "Then you're..." Anubis said dropping his hand from his sword, still sheathed. Reaper nodded, "...I am a soulless creation, built on darkness surrounded forever by the world I've created. Waiting until the sands of time to end for all" He spoke darkly as a pedestal rose from the ground with an hourglass on it. The sand had fallen through completely. Reaper pointed to it, "I am, the Reaper. Your time has run out Anubis. You withstood your trials now choose your fate. Break the glass and let the sand return to earth to live here forever as another dark creation or let your nightmares drag you into the forest." Reaper said pointing to his hour glass waiting for his decision. "Make you decision fast, before the lost souls take you away." He added lowering his hand. Anubis walked to the hourglass and picked it up in his hand. He turned looking back at Reaper. He looked down on his hourglass once more, before he shattered it in his hand. The pedestal shattered and dark blue spirits broke through immediately shooting into Anubis. He fell to his knees landing also on his hands to hold him up. Fear drifted from his body, he was rushed with a new found power as he exhaled a blue smoke from the darkness of his helmet. His armor grew dark as he rose to his feet once again. Blue smoke burned from his eyes through his helmet as it drifted in the still air. This dissipated as he exhaled once again showing nothing but darkness from his helmet. "Welcome..." Reaper said darkly as he turned stabbing the staff of his scythe into the ground once again fading into darkness. Anubis exhaled again slowly seeing blue smoke once again, then slowly faded into darkness.
