Founded in 1982, Food For The Poor began to help the suffering poor in Latin America and the Caribbean. It started with a few bags of rice given to Jamaica's hungry, a few houses built for the homeless and a few compassionate donors who wanted to help.

Since then, Food For The Poor has grown to become the largest international charity in the United States, aiding the poor of 17 countries. God has blessed our organization with incredible growth and a greater capacity to serve the destitute. We have distributed more than $8 billion worth of aid throughout the Caribbean and Latin America through collective Christian charity and the sacrifice of our donors.
