Excel video tutorial showing you how to use Data Validation in Excel in order to prevent a user from entering a space before or after text in a cell in Excel. This teaches you how to prevent leading or trailing spaces from being entered into cells. The benefit of checking for this and of preventing a user from entering such as value is so ensure that functions and formulas that reference the original cells input will be able to work. For instance, vlookup, match, and index lookup functions will look for exact matches of data and leading and trailing spaces can prevent these functions from working correctly.
This is a perfect example of why data validation exists in Excel and of where it can be most useful. This Excel video tutorial covers the custom attribute of data validation in Excel.

This method teaches you how to be able to enter data into a data validated drop down menu cell that is not contained within the drop down menu. Basically, you will be able to enter values that are not contained in the drop down menu into a cell with a drop down menu. This allows you to simply use the data validation drop down menu feature in Excel in order to make entering values in cells easier for users while at the same time not preventing them from entering other values.

Neat Excel tip for adding extra lines to cells in Excel. This allows you to have paragraph style formatting for text within a cell whereby you can enter text on lines below other text within the same cell in Excel. This allows you to have better looking and better formatting spreadsheets in Excel. You can also use this technique to insert blank lines after or before text within a cell in Excel.
This method of entering text into cells allows you to avoid using the text box to enter large amounts of text in Excel.

Anyone who has ever had to check 100, 200, 1000 cells in Excel for an error that someone else has made might start to think that Excel is hell. But, yes, it is very useful and I hope that my video tutorials can keep you out of the hell which is (can be) Excel. :)
