Protecting Marriage Equality For All Maine Families
About Me:

On May 6, 2009 Maine became the 5th state in the nation to end discrimination in marriage for same-sex couples.

But the fight is not over. Opponents of marriage equality want to roll back the clock. They are working to place a measure on the ballot -- modeled after California's Prop -- to take away the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry in Maine. The vote will happen November 2009. We need your help. Join the campaign today.

Vote on 1 and Protect Maine Equality.

i am so dissapointed in my state of maine for upholding hate. it makes me more mad however when people say that gays are trying to indoctrinate others and teaching it in schools blah blah and that is all a bunch oh horse shit. im sick and tired of people in this fuckin looser state

I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; until death do us part.

These vows, used by millions of couples in their wedding ceremonies, convey precisely what makes a marriage, whether the couple be opposite-sex or same-sex. All that's left is to allow same-sex couples to use the words "LAWFULLY wedded (wife/husand)." Vote NO on Question 1!

GAY RIGHTS!
CitizenGeek (1 month ago)
Why do you think your bigotry should be "respected", siral? How would you feel if I said I didn't agree with your "lifestyle" (wtf does that even mean? It's not like there's a standard "gay lifestyle", gay people are just as diverse as straight people and that includes how they live their lives, too) and that you had to respect my opinion of disapproval? And that you calling my opinion, that you're lifestyle is disagreeable, unfair would be simple intolerance?

I am constantly hearing the argument about tolerance, and respect for diversity, yet anytime anyone disagrees with homosexuality they are greeted with more jeers and outright hostility than any homosexual I have personally seen. I really don't care if gays can get marred, fine and dandy, I don't agree with the lifestyle, but I still respect the people, and have absolutely no ill will for them. If they were all trully tolerant of others like they say we all should be, they would respect my rights just as much I am supposed to be tolerant theirs. I truly believe we can coexist in peace with our diversity intact, and agree to disagree on some things. but I think the gay community needs to take a page out of Martin Luther Kings public relations book, Instead of trying to silence and or tear down any one who disagrees witn them, (like the beauty pageant mess). No I don't think the conservative right is without blame either.

That Spooner speach, is awesome. Thank You! Please keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for putting up Mr. Spooner's comments. I've got tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. When he mentioned his sons and how "they all done good" - I lost it. That's all any son or daughter really wants to hear from their dad - love and respect and the knowledge that we've "done good".

Good luck to the people of Maine in retaining the freedom for all to marry the one they love. Perhaps the President I gave a month of my life to elect will see this and do the right thing and suspend enforcement of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" before our military loses any more gay men and women.
