ABOUT THIS CHANNEL

I wanted to start a tube for Epiphone guitars and amps. Or, more to the point, the Epiphone Socal 50 amp. I will be uploading tone samples with amp settings. I will also be uploading tone samples from other products like the BOSS ME-50 used with the Socal.

Amp Settings: Epiphone Socal / Legacy Hammerhead / Grainger Hammerhead

Mode: 50W Presence=0 Reverb=0 Bass=8.4 Middle=0 Treble=8.5 Equalizer=Independent Level=1-4 (Your Choice) Contour=10 Gain=10

My pickups are now tilted. So, I raise the pickup close to the high E string, and lower the pickup at the low E string. This gives me a very nice lead tone on a high gain amp, while still giving me a crunch tone when I play chords. I've also increased the contour to 10 which gives me the middle range tone.

I tend to tweak the treble/bass settings depending on how loud the amp is. A little more contour will help you cut though a thick band sound by adding a little more middle.

The level shouldnt go much above 4 on these amps because the EL34s start distorting and can effect your tone.

I currently used my Epiphone Limited Edition Pirates of the Caribbean Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar. Awesome tone! Such a solid guitar.

If anyone is interested. I setup all my guitars to be "floppy". ie: the truss rod is completely relaxed. I find this gives more bass tone and the wood vibrates warmer which I love. It also means the neck is easy to wobble which I do a lot to create vibrato.

Some people like tight guitars. I personally cant play them. I love big tones.

I also have my strings higher than a lot of other players, since my left hand pointer finger is used to anchor strings. Its a very old school way of playing. ie: Led Zep, Van Halen, AC/DC. I find I get a better rock/blues tone that way.

INFORMATION UPDATE!

I mostly play a LOT of music these days. There is nothing else to-do really.

I mostly have spent the last year on exploring guitar tones and recording methods, plus, working on my scales and music theory. Most of my explorations are on YouTube videos, with full documentation in the descriptions of each video.

Before that I recorded hundreds of hours of music, some if which I've uploaded to various MySpace sites. The HorrorMask stuff is pretty funny.

That music was recorded late 90's using a crap PC and recording software I bought with a loan from Centrelink. God bless those little f-er's. They do something's right sometimes.

I really love the Cirxus music. That was an idea to actually form a band that played quality music. But, it never got off the ground. F-ing Adelaide pisses me off sometimes. Too small!

I recently developed the PHP Class library BuzzPHP, if anyone is actually interested in coding. Ha. It is released on LGPL which means, it is basically free for anyone to use.

I love recording music at home. I think not enough people do it. I have been recording music since I was 16 using two crappy tape decks and bouncing tracks. I moved onto a cheap Tascam 4 track then a Tascam 8 track. I gave up for a while until computers caught up, and I started recording using Acid PRO V2. I later moved to Cubase and then Reaper! Which is by far, the best multi-track software I have used.
