First and foremost, there are a lot of SUVs here in Los Angeles. There's the handful of new subcompact SUVs. They're smaller and less expensive than compact SUVs like the Honda CR-V, but they still give you an elevated ride height and available all-wheel drive.
The new Honda HR-V is the versatility champ of this new segment, with an incredible amount of backseat and cargo space given its small exterior dimensions. The Mazda CX-3 is another new entry that puts an emphasis on style and engaging driving dynamics.
The Fiat 500X gets its own distinctive Italian style, and like the Jeep Renegade it shares its platform with, it should have the most powerful engines in this growing segment.
As for bigger SUVs, there's an all-new and more refined Kia Sorento. Ford showed its all-new Edge alongside a refreshed Ford Explorer with new technology and a more powerful EcoBoost engine. At the other end of the Ford spectrum, there was the ultimate new Mustang: the Shelby GT350.
In terms of the luxury market, there's the Land Rover Discovery Sport, a midsize SUV with available three rows of seats and off-road capability as well as the Volvo XC90 that seems to offer equal parts style and practicality. Volvo's V60 Cross Country gives you a wagon driving experience with SUV ground clearance and all-wheel drive.
Moving away from SUVs, you'll be able to check out revised versions of the Chrysler 300, Audi's A6 and A7, Mazda's 6 and CX-5, and if you're at a Mazda dealer, make sure to check out the new MX-5.
