The European Environment Agencys (EEA) main purpose is to gather information about the state of Europes environment, interpret it and let others know how we are doing. To do so, the EEA coordinates a network which assembles representatives from environmental agencies or ministries of each member country (currently 32 so more than the EU, which has 27 members). These representatives feed information about their countrys environment, which is then used to write and publish reports or kind of score cards. Based on this information, the European Parliament can make the right decisions and pass appropriate laws to protect Europes environment.
