The Diamond synchrotron is the largest UK-funded scientific facility to be built for over 40 years.
Located in South Oxfordshire it is a giant machine, called a synchrotron, that can be described as a series of "super microscopes". It generates very bright synchrotron light from infrared to X-rays, which is used in a wide range of applications including physics, biology, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences.
