L'Oiseau-Lyre is one of the pillars of Decca's label history. Originally founded as a publishing venture called Editions de L'Oiseau-Lyre in Paris in 1932, the recording side was acquired by Decca in 1970. The label came to represent the highest standard in original instrument performance, based on the most recent research into the original texts, instrumentation and performing styles.

A 50 CD original jackets collection celebrating the greatest Baroque recordings from Decca's pioneering early music label L'Oiseau-Lyre.

Key Baroque works featured include best-selling albums such as Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons,' Handel's 'Messiah' and Bach's 'Brandenburg Concertos.' Beyond that, a wide array of composers offer a fascinating historical and geographic tour of the era -- Scarlatti and Vivaldi from Italy, Rameau and Couperin in France, Biber in Germany, Boyce and Purcell from England

Not only does the new Baroque collection showcase some of L'Oiseau-Lyre's early triumphs. It also includes more recent releases, such as 'Il pianto di Maria' with Il Giardino Armonico under Giovanni Antonini in 2009.
