About Me:

With Into the Sun David Myles whisks us away on an exhilarating musical adventure that explores his long-time love of Brazilian and African music. Already known for his versatility and ability to fuse styles, David takes us further afield with this record by introducing rhythms and instrumentation most often reserved for world music audiences. The result is a sound that is uniquely David Myles.

With influences as obvious to pop audiences as Paul Simon and as obscure as Brazilian icon Jorge Ben, David is the ideal tour guide. The surprising and intricate songwriting is framed by carefully constructed arrangements, soaring harmonies and flawless musicianship.

The opening a cappella track, "Run," is the perfect framework for David's smooth vocals, while the closing song -- the Classified produced version of "Simple Pleasures" -- is an undeniable summer hit. David's signature love songs are still evident ("Falling in Love"), but he also treats us to two innovative instrumental tracks that see him return to the trumpet.

At the heart of it all, is the songwriting that has made David a favourite with audiences and critics alike. A gifted and spirited writer, David often co-writes and collaborates with artists from across many genres. "Simple Pleasures" is his second collaboration with Canadian hip hop star, Classified. The Myles penned, Classified produced "Simple Pleasures" is a follow-up to a collaboration that started with Classified's own single "The Day Doesn't Die" -- a co-write that features David's vocals.

A warm, easy performer, David brings his audiences to their feet wherever he plays. His unabashed joy at being on stage is infectious and his musicianship is superb. Add his tendency to regale his audiences with humorous anecdotes, and it comes as no surprise that David is an instant hit with live audiences around the world.

Into the Sun is David's fifth studio recording and his sixth album. Co-produced with Charles Austin and Graeme Campbell in Halifax, Into the Sun is an exuberant follow-up to the award-winning Turn Time Off, and takes us a little deeper in to the wonderful world of David Myles.

DavidMylesVideos Jan 13, 2012 - Hi folks,
Happy New Year. I just got back from my first tour in Australia. Pleased to report it was a blast. Such a great place to tour. Super sweet weather, ocean swimming, perfect coffee everywhere and really nice people. What more can one ask for? Plus the Woodford Folk Festival was pretty much the craziest and best festival I've ever seen. Had a great show in Melbourne and a few beauties in and around Sydney too...see more @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4LAwg...

Here I find myself returning to my PC - and only one aspiration - to relive this production of Simple Pleasures- it SIMPLY doesn't get better than this.

Ok - maybe it does - but DAMN if this isn't a beautiful expression - can I say thank you one more time Mr. whatever you name is ? the guy in the hat on the beach ?

You bring a realism to idealism.

Wish you the best days in the sun -

I could picture a celebrative brass section going off in an instrumental - for 7 minutes - reaching a peak ok - 10 minutes- WHO KNOWS- maybe even 20 playing live ! ending in this mantra of 'more free time, more free time, more free time, more free time' - ok ok - I have only had 2 sips of coffee today - I am not awake yet - but my interest in life has been rekindled by this song ! WHAT A SLAP in the face to western materialistic consumerism eH ? revealing the phony life it offers compared to oh so simple living. Good music, good people- what MORE do you ever need ?

One last thought - I play music - not pieces- just music- often for 10 seconds sometimes for 10 hours - so I hear it in my head all the time and I JUST found myself in my kitchen with my creamed spinach project stirring it going over and over in a chorus 'more free time - more free time' to which I might suggest you extend the piece with a chorus section that just goes 'more free time, more free time' over and over... In life - this IS all we REALLY WANT from any socio-economic model anyhoo ? Right ?

At 43 - I RARELY feel compelled to visit my neighbors and say- you HAVE to experience this song - however ? Simple Pleasures ? is such a piece I will be notifying all of my 2 friends AND neighbors - the video is just terrific - who needs a 3.1 million director budget for some flashy video- THIS is what a music video is all about- THIS SONG is what as someone above said here- is what music is all about. Heck I'm broke and poor but I'll be sending money to David Myles - so he can have even MORE free time to express more meditations such as this. SO damned refreshing this song is.

Hats on to David Myles- just heard Simple Pleasures - I NORMALLY would just download a song for free ? I will be sending MY money to Mr. Myles- so he can even more free time - I'm 43- I listen to a WIDE spectrum of music, but this tune has everything you need in it! I play music as mantra - this is my next mantra - I'll be playing it over and over and over and over.... THANK YOU Mr. Myles for engaging in the release of this meditation - most wonderful.
