Prisoners: "If you just take the time to meditate, free your mind, everything will come together."

Homeless: "I was just so frustrated and full of misguided anger I didn't know where to direct it to....people tell me you're so calm....it's surprising even to me."

Native Americans: "I lost four members of my family to diabetes. I don't want that to happen to my people....Since I started TM my sugar has been where it should be. So, I'm sold on TM."

Schools and the Quiet Time Program Play

Learning readiness is at the core of any comprehensive program for raising student performance. By developing the full brain, reducing the acute stresses that undermine learning and health, and improving the overall environment of the schools, the Quiet Time Program is a practical, highly effective approach to promoting learning readiness among students and thereby markedly improving their academic performance and success in life.
The Quiet Time Program with the Transcendental Meditation technique has already been incorporated into hundreds of public, charter, and private schools throughout the United States and around the world, supported by an extensive body of independent research verifying its benefits. Students participating in Quiet Time score higher on intelligence tests, close the achievement gap, improve test scores, and have higher graduation rates compared to students in control groups. Meditating students also show reduced stress levels, anxiety, depression, violence, and substance abuse. This results in reduced absenteeism, dropout rates, suspensions, and expulsions.

Military, Veterans and PTSD Treatment Play

Veterans are often loath to acknowledge to themselves or others their inner wounds of war after they return home from combat. Healing those wounds of war requires an approach that directly impacts the neurophysiology underlying PTS.
Operation Warrior Wellness offers Transcendental Meditation, a scientifically proven approach, which can be easily learned and practiced in private, to help veterans overcome the nightmare of PTS, while simultaneously promoting resiliency and improved performance in civilian life. Thousands of veterans have learned Transcendental Meditation and research on meditating vets has shown that the technique not only reduces the psychosocial symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, but also balances serotonin and norepinephrine, and regulates the sympathetic nervous system.
Transcendental Meditation is a simple, easily learned technique, practiced for 15 to 20 minutes twice a day, sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. The technique produces a profound state of rest and relaxation as deep as deep sleep, while enlivening the full brain. This experience of restful alertness is at the basis of the marked reductions in symptoms of PTS and the overall improvement in the quality of life of the veteran.

Doctors and Scientists on Transcendental Meditation Play

Doctors and scientists give evidence and statistics of how Transcendental Meditation works to combat post-traumatic stress, improve learning, and help cure illness.

African PTSD Relief Play

Victims of violence and war often suffer unimaginable trauma for years, unable to find a remedy for their anguish. These experiences leave an indelible impression in the brain and lead to persistent flashbacks, inability to relate to others, constant fear, hyper-alertness, and frequent outbursts of anger. Those suffering from PTSD need a procedure that reverses this neurophysiological condition.
Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a simple, natural, effortless technique, easily learned by anyone—regardless of age, educational background, or walk of life. TM produces a unique and profound state of rest and relaxation, which eliminates stress and restores healthy, coherent brain functioning. The technique does not involve any religion, philosophy, or change in lifestyle.
Over 340 published research studies document TM's ability to reduce stress-related disorders and promote mental and physical health. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have funded over $26 million in research grants to study its effectiveness.
African PTSD Relief can help survivors of war reclaim their lives by overcoming the effects of traumatic stress and re-establishing a positive state of physical, emotional and social well-being.

Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness Play

What constitutes a holistic program to help the homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society? Along with proper housing, education, job training, and a network of qualified support, these adults and children must be equipped with the tools to overcome the traumatic stresses which fueled their descent into homelessness and which, if left unchecked, could send them back into relapse.
The David Lynch Foundation offers a re-entry program for the homeless: a practical, highly effective, humane program to reduce acute and chronic stress and stress-related disorders, decrease anxiety and depression, overcome addictions, and simultaneously develop the brain and creative potential of the individual for a healthy, productive, self-sufficient life.
