Incidentally, that the Scottish Rite, as well as the York Rite, confers their degrees so rapidly bothers me greatly. Before becoming a Mason I was under the impression that it takes years to achieve Thirty-Second Degree (SR) and Knight Templar (YR) status -- which I believe it should because they are so rich with symbolism that to fully understand them takes years, and only the Brethren who are willing to endure such time to gain true appreciation of Rites' rituals should be allowed to reach the Thirty-Second and Templar Degrees.

Very, very disheartened. Thankfully what I love about the Craft more than compensates for what displeases me about it -- such as being devoid of occultism and politically impotent. In those senses it's sadly not what it used to be.

@Richapo Yes i already know that but the 20th degree the initiate is givin something special whether or not they know it. Every degree and every step is accumulative to something else. Only the wisest of the freemasons really know what they are doing, the lesser freemasons despite reciving the degrees normally never can put the information together.

@DJYC21215 FYI, in America all initiates into the Scottish Rite receive degrees Four to Thirty-Two over the course of two days, and there's no guaranteed that the Twentieth Degree ritual will even be performed. Typically a Valley chooses a handful or so rituals to perform and confers the rest by decree, not undertaking -- otherwise going up to the Thirty-Second Degree would take forever and ever. It's not the austere process you may think it is. It's no big deal.
