2011 Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools
The prestigious awards program has been running since 2000 and recognises and rewards state schools for education practices that significantly improve student learning outcomes.
The program is designed for Queensland state schools and has eight categories that aim to:
- recognise, celebrate and reward excellent teaching practice in state schools
- foster a learning culture that supports sharing excellent practices
- create professional development opportunities and promote public education.

Queensland child and youth disaster response
Professor Brett McDermott has been tasked by the Queensland Government to plan and deliver the Queensland child and youth disaster response with particular focus on the appropriate assessment, support and recovery of school communities including student, teachers, student support personnel, school principals, administrators, and families.
