About Church of the Divide
Church of the Divide is a group of Bible-believing followers of Christ, meeting in homes on the Georgetown Divide. We are opposed to the institutional model of "church" and desire a return to the biblical model of Christians meeting together in homes as the Church (Rom. 16:5, Col. 4:15, Phm. 1:2). We believe in interactive meetings, with all members participating (1 Cor 14:26). We see no Scriptural basis for one paid pastor to "lord over the flock" (1 Pet. 5:3) but rather follow the Scripture's teaching of having a plurality of qualified male elders oversee the church (Acts 20:17, 1Tim.3:2)
We believe in the public proclamation of the Word of God and follow the example of Jesus Christ and His disciples (Matt. 4:17, Mark 6:12).
