The island of IONA (Western Caledonia/Scotland) was the headquarters of the TRUE CHURCH during the Dark Ages!!

In the Book of Revelation chapter 12, Jesus said that the true Church would have to flee into the wilderness to escape the fury of the great Red Dragon of Rome....Caledonia (Scotland) and Hibernia (Ireland) was the wilderness —beyond the bounds of the Roman Empire. This is where the true Church found a refuge from the flood of false doctrines that the Serpent cast out of his mouth.

The Vikings were the forerunners of the Spanish conquistadors. They followed the Christian missionaries to Iceland, Greenland, and the New World, looting, burning and killing.

The island of Barbados in the West Indies had a colony of Irish (Hibernian) monks as early as the year 600. Those monks had nothing in common with the Roman Catholic monks that supplanted them centuries later. It seems that Barbados was actually named the Isle of St. Brendan after the great Hibernian missionary explorer.

The Vikings eventually conquered a large part of France which was later called Normandy. They raided the coast of Spain and eventually conquered Sicily where Christopher Columbus was born.


Viking longships were decorated with the head of a Dragon. They drove a wedge between the colony of Antrim (N.Hibernia) and Caledonia (Scotland). You will never find a Papal Bull excommunicating those bloodthirsty murderers. This was the NATO of the Dark Ages!!

St. Columba the great Hibernian evangelist in the year 563 founded the Christian Institute of Iona which became world famous as a missionary training Institute and center of evangelical learning. Iona was considered the Harvard or Princeton of its day.

It was from that small strategic isle that he accomplished the conversion of the Caledonian Picts (Scots) to Christianity. He also laid the foundation of the Scottish monarchy which continued on the female side right down to Queen Victoria. It was the ambition of all the Scottish monarchs and Scots people (sovereign) to be buried in that "holy isle." Both countries looked upon Iona as the center of their Faith and the cement of the sacred bonds of friendship between them.

With the Roman Catholic Norman Conquest of England in 1066, the Vatican followed the same pattern as the Caesars. First Caledonia (Scotland) was to be subdued and then Hibernia (Ireland). But they failed just like their predecessors. Brave men like Sir William Wallace and King Robert I of Scots prevented the Norman Roman Catholics from conquering Caledonia.

The church that St. Columba founded continued to exist right up to the time of the Reformation. It was persecuted and despised; functioning mostly underground until the dawn of that blessed event.

The people of Scotland knew that the doctrine that John Knox preached was the same Gospel that emanated from Iona almost 1,000 years earlier. . . . True Christianity was preserved there and not at Rome!!
