About Me:

BJ's story.. (the short version)

I´ve been playing blues for a long time with different bands and it all began electric a long time ago, kind of a bluesy rock with lots of screaming guitars..
With age came the love for softer pure acoustic music. Acoustic blues won my heart!!
I like to keep a very broad style of blues, this helps me find more opportunities to play at clubs, festivals etc.
You just say what kind of blues act you'd like and I'll aim to offer you just that!
But it seems I'm always drawn back in time and place to the Mississippi Delta of the 1920's and 30's..
I guess this is THE music that touches my soul the most?! It must be, I haven't found any music yet that can compare to these old recordings in terms of soul, feeling and honesty..
When I perform it's mostly old-timey 1920's and 30's Delta & Country blues stuff.. Spirituals, of course, are also an essential part of my repertoire!! I have a programme called "THE SPIRIT IN THE BLUES", a concert played on acoustic instruments of a bygone era, the traditional gospel songs from the Delta regions of the southern USA..!! The bluesmen played the blues at Juke-Joints and bars on Saturday night and the next morning the same musicians played the Gospel music in church..!! The lyrics were different but the music almost the same.. I've always loved the spiritual side of the blues and this is my tribute!! A set of laid back stuff from the Delta, classic tunes as well as my own songs..!!
I can see a tiny tendence that the audiences appreciates more "back-to-the-roots" blues these days, it has been very much of the "rock/blues" stuff going on. In general, acoustic music is getting more attention as well.
The heart of my music is the genuine sound of resonator guitars. I like the mix between acoustic and electric that I believe we find in the resophonic instruments. I use to tell people who hasn't heard one before that it's an electric guitar without the electricity!! It's basically a mechanically amplified guitar.. Sometimes there might also be a piano, pump-organ, washboard, harmonica, upright-bass, mandolin, kazoo and such nice old bluesy instruments to accompany me. And what a wonderful sound they all make!
I feel truly blessed that people seem to like my music and give me the opportunity to perform it live!
Thanks to all of you interested in my music and I sure hope to meet you one day!

"..Slide guitar is first about listening.. Then it's about feeling.. It's about how you can make your guitar sound more like a voice than wood and steel or bronze...
Don't be afraid to play less, to work with your voice and with the silence between the notes.
A lotta nothing is still nothing. A little something... now THAT's something!!.."

Resonatin' words of wisdom..
