About Border Collie Rescue

Border Collie Rescue is a specialist breed rescue organisation for Border Collies and Working Sheepdogs, based in the UK but also working internationally to improve understanding of the breed and its welfare.

We take in, assess, retrain, rehabilitate and rehome Border Collies and working sheepdogs and provide those we take in that cannot be re-homed with sanctuary and lifelong care.

Border Collie Rescue was formed in the UK in 1976, the year the Kennel Club recognised the breed and created a breed standard.

In 1995 the organisation was incoporated as a non profit charitable company.

In 2004 the organisations set up an Assessment and Rehabilitation centre near Richmond, which has now re-located to York.

Border Collie Rescue is run, managed and staffed completely by unpaid volunteers.
The organisation relies on public donations for the funding of its work.
