I like to get a little creative with traditional music. If you like to do that, too, you might find some ideas here.
I started playing banjo in 1978, pretty much stopped in 1979, and started seriously again in about 2001.
In the non-banjo years I played a lot of Balkan music as well as some French and Scandinavian tunes on hurdy-gurdy, winds, and percussion. I've been moving some of those tunes and rhythms over to banjo.
I've also spent the last 30 years dancing, teaching dance, or playing for dancers, so most tunes I play are dance tunes, and I'm a little obsessed with rhythm and drive.
I've got more tunes and some tab at http://www.banjomeetsworld.... You can also find me on the Banjo Hangout at http://www.banjohangout.org.
