Cultivation is at least one of the greatest natural improvements ever made by human invention. It has given to created earth a tenfold value. But the landed monopoly that began with it has produced the greatest evil. It has dispossessed more than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss, and has thereby created a species of poverty and wretchedness that did not exist before.
Sounds like radical lefty stuff, not like what Glenn Beck had in mind.

Another example would be free speech. Many people take the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution for granted, that they can say whatever they want, print whatever they want, believe whatever they want, and most importantly, dissent. But when people object to many government actions the government reacts harshly, often with violence as seen by the police response to the Occupy protests.
Many people throughout American history were killed by Establishment forces, whether they were government/business-sponsored or reactionary vigilantes, just for speaking out against the actions of their oppressors. People like Joe Hill, Frank Little, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Medgar Evers, and tons more people who weren't famous but part of the overall movements to promote social justice.
