The problem with the ---unsigned---articles is that they along with Mel Gibson they are pulling shit out of their asses and calling it research. It doesnt take a lot of work to know the truth, but it does require work.
There is evidence of sacred human sacrifice in our histories, in our songs, in our paintings, in our sculpture, in our theology, in the ruins of the cities of the Maya, the Mexica, the Tajin, the Purepecha, and in practically all of our Nican Tlaca civilizations and culture.
There is the racist, ignorant, and stupid on the side of the Mel Gibson types, but there is what you read which is ignorant, stupid, and New Age on our side.

But in order to understand our ancestors, to defend them, and to be better informed, instead of just listening to the chisme, cuentos and inventos of New Agers, read the few books that have sections in them that explain the exaggeration, the distortion, and the ignoring of European human sacrifice (under the inquisition, public executions, Roman circuses, and witch burnings). Daily Life of the Aztecs by Jacques Soustelle and Before Columbus by Charles Mann put context into human sacrifice, saying that Europe had more human sacrifice than all Nican Tlaca combined (and we had a larger population).
Human Sacrifice by Nigel Davis (out of print but you can get it used online) goes into more detail. None of these books are perfect but its better than pulling shit out of our ass and calling it truth, insulting our ancestors by calling it knowledge.
For us to say that we had no human sacrifice is to play into this New Age spirituality game of saying:---We were perfect and in harmony before the white man came. We had no war, no warriors, no human sacrifice.--- These are people who have watched Dances With Wolves too many times and who think that the books of the godfather of New Age, Carlos Castaneda, are all true stories (Castaneda admitted that he made up all of those stories).
Lets be honest about the limited and theologically based human sacrifice in our civilizations and cultures. We will get into it in brief here.
There is no refuting human sacrifice anywhere in the world, including the Romans, Greeks, Medieval Europe, Renaissance Europe, or even with contemporary Europeans (abortion is a form of human sacrifice, sending soldiers off to war is a form of human sacrifice).
All societies had some form of human sacrifice. Our ancestors were no different from all civilizations and cultures in having human sacrifice as a part of their culture. Europeans like to pretend that they had no human sacrifice but their own documents, histories, and stories give evidence of a long history of human sacrifice.
