AT5 is de lokale nieuws- en actualiteitenzender van Amsterdam en omstreken. De omroep is op 1 april 1992 de lucht in gegaan. AT5 is een belangrijke bron van informatie voor Amsterdammers, in de stad en in de wijde omtrek.

AT5 is uitgegroeid tot het meest bekeken medium van Amsterdam e.o. en bedient een bijzonder breed publiek. Het potentieel aan kijkers bedraagt bijna 2 miljoen. Het Amsterdamse nieuws staat centraal in de programmering. Daarnaast biedt AT5 sport, shownieuws, cultuur, politiek, human interest en discussie. Zeven dagen per week en vierentwintig uur per dag brengt AT5 actuele lokale berichtgeving.

AT5 is the only television channel exclusively dedicated to Amsterdam, available by cable to over a million people living in Amsterdam and the surrounding area since 1992.

AT5 was established in 1992 by the late Feike Selverda as a local news station. From the start the semi-private AT5 found itself challenged by a lack of funds. In spite of these difficult circumstances, it succeeded in establishing itself as Amsterdam's news source of choice. Over the years it has grown exponentially from a two-bit (and two-employee!) station to a modern, well-equipped 24-hour news channel with a dedicated workforce of 180. As the quality of AT5's programming has increased, so too has its audience.

Originally broadcasting exclusively to Amsterdam, AT5 is now available in 11 municipalities surrounding the nation's capital. Still dedicated to its original mission, that of covering local news, AT5 has crews working around the clock to ensure that its viewers don't miss out on breaking news.
