The NYC's The Soloist. Giuseppe Logan was on his way to fame having made to records that clearly showed his talent and edgy musical gift both to write and compose when he self destructed. I filmed him in December playing a haunting rendition of Begin the Beguine in Tompkins Square Park and posted on youtube not knowing he still has a following of people that loved his music and thought he was dead so posting my stirring youtube rocked the jazz world. Pete Gershon publisher of Signal to Noise wrote a powerful piece "Out from the Shadow" and points out what I discovered on youtube, GL in Tompkins the same park in the 1960's with his son. So where was he all these years and how did he get in a position of losing everything? Not having instruments for all these years was a death, like being dead. Coming back to NYC was key in finding his way back to an adoring audience, instruments and it sounds like his original record company will re release his albums soon....
So far this is a three part series to underscore the fact the Bloomberg administration pushed a reckless tsunami of community crushing development on infrastructures that were in terrible shape. I focus in on two blocks that are connected in the East Village and I was on NY1 for a medium size water main break (one of two that some think is related to Cooper Union's construction which C.U. denies.) It has been years and these streets are like open wounds that won't heal and thru out NYC the streets are in terrible shape, Mike Bloomberg's streets of NYC. The streets were better in Colonial times and one water main break in the W. Village was from pre-the Civil war.
NYC's infrastructures are collapsing from the streets to below the streets to rotted subway stations that leak on rainy days, on rainy days the broken streets look more like Venice, Italy as the flood, Mike Bloomberg pushed a reckless tsunami of greed, community crushing development on old New York's infrastructure and like the greed and stupidity that brought down Wall Street there is an aftermath, even Mike's denying voters a referendum makes me think the infrastructure of democracy is collapsing as well

I have made youtubes on fire housing closings, on the pensions and one on Jack Maple because when I was being harassed and I was scared for my safety, his book literally fell in to my hands in the basement of The Strand.
My passionate letters have been published in The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Crain's, 9 in The New York Times, letter of the week "Carbon Copy" The Village Voice, The New York Post, The NY Daily News, Newsday, The Jerusalem Post, AM New York, Metro
