About Me:

The Sunshine Cathedral is a denominational member of Metropolitan Community Churches. MCC is a Christian denomination that was established in 1968 specifically to include lesbian women and gay men who may have felt rejected by other churches. MCC provides a church home where all are welcome. The Sunshine Cathedral welcomes all to its home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; in Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Mandeville, Jamaica; and in its worldwide ministry through the Internet.

The Sunshine Cathedral is also affiliated with the Center for Progressive Christianity, whose mission is:

To reach out to those for whom organized religion has proved ineffectual, irrelevant, or repressive, as well as to those who have given up on or are unacquainted with it.
To uphold evangelism as an agent of justice and peace.
To give a strong voice both in the churches and the public arena to the advocates of progressive Christianity .
To support those who embrace the search, not certainty.

You may be referring to post from last winter or early spring. Don't recall exactly which feminist theologians we named, but I'm sure the following feminist (and womanist) theologians made the list: Hyun Kyung Chung, Carter Heyward, Virginia Mollenkott, Delores Williams, Kelly Brown Douglas, Kwok Pui Lan...just to name a few.

I am really enjoying your discussions. I couldn't catch the names of the feminist theologians you mentioned in the discussion of sexism. Could you let me know their names?

I enjoyed watching your discussion on this topic. On Sunday, February 8, 2009; the closing hymn was "We Shall Overcome". While I was playing my flute, I nearly started crying at both services. Born in 1962, I wasn't NEARLY as aware of American racism back then as I am today. Hearing the congregation and choir sing the words aloud, I mentally recalled the TV broadcasts of African-Americans being hosed down by the white police, and being beaten by white racists. Today, "We Shall Overcome" has taken on a huge meaning in the GLBT community with OUR own equal rights and marriage STILL not being legally granted. I just wanted to share this with you. Thank you for ALL you do. I feel VERY much in synch with MCC and am proud to be a part of the Musical Family.
