Now the Outback is an SUV? I suppose it's more capable than many from other brands, but I wish people weren't so afraid of the "wagon" title. I don't want Subarus to be getting taller. I'm afraid they're starting to lose their sedan-like on-road capability and feel that so nicely accompanies their utility and off-road capabilities. I love the size of my '02 forester. It looks and feels like a wagon, whereas a Rav4 or CR-V from the same or any year definitely seems like a top-heavy SUV to me. I'm sure the new forester can still out-corner its competitors thanks to the horizontally opposed engine, but it has taken the indisputable SUV shape much to my disappointment. Bring back your wagons Subaru! I love my extra couple inches of ground clearance, but I also love not noticing them until the terrain requires them.

Can your car be your best friend? Sometimes I look at my 2001 Outback and think it is.
