All kinds of GUITAR music, songs, a 52 stringed guitar and instruction videos on guitar and the South Indian vocal system of scales & rhythms.
About Me:

I´ve played guitar & composed since I was 13. Last year I released my 14th album "Indian Heartbeat" (EMI/India)
I am influenced by the classical indian music tradition but also blues, jazz and rock. I have worked with symphony orchestras (a.o performing John McLaughlin´s Concerto for guitar & orchestra "The Mediterranean") , DJ´s, HipHop bands, Pop groups, Arabic music, Brasilian music, Flaminco a.o . I have also worked with modern dance & theatre. In 2011 - 2012 I am employed at two danish theatres ("Teater Reflektion" & "Teatertasken" ) + I am playing solo concert on the unusual guitar you can see in the background
The 52 stringed "Manzer Medusa Guitar" took two years to create. It is a whole new groundbreaking instrument and the only one of it´s kind. I have to invent new techniques to play it. Its something new and its great fun :) You will find some videos on my channel revealing the sonic potential of the "Manzer Medusa Guitar"
The guitar is build by the world famous canadian luthier Linda Manzer...

Hi "kingofkillings" - the key to the polyrhythm "3 versus 4"... (and any polyrythm) IT IS ALL MATH!!!!
You will have to find the commen "denominater" by multiplying the numbers involved
In this case : 3 times 4 = 12 subdivisions total.
So count 12 - "one hand clapping 4 times 3 while the other goes 3 times 4"
In konnakol it would be "Thakita, Thakita, Thakita, Thakita" versus "ThakeDhime, ThakeDhime, ThakeDhime"
NEXT question: my video "Da-Di-Ge-Na-Do" that is a very complex composition, It would be even more abstact if I slowed it down. If you purchase my 3 books you will get a good idea of my rhythm method. Finally: I am working on a guitar method book containing a.o some of my etudes. There is no publisher yet, but I am working on that :)

It might be difficult for you to translate that into werstern musical notation, but I believe that perhaps if the examples are taken a little bit slower I would grasp the concept a little better. The problem is the same with Da-Di-Ge-Na-Do. I loved the video but some of the subdivisions didn't make the slightest sense to my brain (with the ears the situation is a completely different one). Also some notes on the scales and melodies used would be of great help. With your guitar etude, perhaps an online visible score would help a lot. Lastly, I would like to ask you if you have any ideas on different rhythmic pulses going on at the same time as it applies to the instrumentation.

When you talk about polyrhytms, I can clearly understand what the basic division is, but when the other rhythm is superimposed is where my difficulty arises. When you talk about 3 over 4, what are you talking about exactly? Do these division have the same "speed", do they share the same basic pulse, is one faster than the other?

Truely some original and inspirational playing. Thank you also for the music theory explained in your vids, it has already helped me in my own playing. I look forward to hearing more pieces with odd time signatures!

Hi Henrik, I just wanted to say that your videos on Konnakol have been a huge help to me. I've developed a much deeper understanding of all sorts of rhythms through using your exercises. Thank you!

Dear Henrik,
Thank you very very much for writing your books "Shortcut to Nirvana". I discovered and bought them few days ago. This is the most clear and complete work I never found about basics (and not only!!) of South Indian Music an Konnakol. Finally the west musicians can understand easily the secrets of this incredible Art as well!
Your Tihai table is clever, really helpful to get new ideas for my music!
Great work Maestro! Thanks a lot again!
Ciao
