SevereStudios Inc. was founded by broadcasters and storm chasers Kenny Allen and Kory Hartman, and is dedicated to informing the public about severe weather. Their mission is to develop and promote initiatives that will focus on better severe weather preparedness and action. SevereStudios provides severe weather information, including spotter reports and live on-scene video, to the greater public through collaboration with media and local and state government.

During the 2007 tornado season, SevereStudios became the first organization in history to successfully stream live tornado video over the Internet to the public. On April 24, 2007, SevereStudios debuted the first, free-to-the-public, live streaming storm chase video feed from central Kansas. With only a slight delay, the National Weather Service (NWS) offices and local media could view the severe storms that the SevereStudios Chase Team was observing. This technology helped NWS meteorologists generate faster and more accurate warnings, and also conveyed the danger of the storms to the public when the feed was broadcast live on television. The live streaming "ChaseCam" was viewed by five NWS offices and thousands of individuals all over the world.

In 2008, SevereStudios launched SevereStreaming, a Windows Media-based video hosting service geared toward storm chasers. In addition, the Live ChaseCam Network was launched. Visitors now have the ability to watch numerous cameras from the SevereStudios Chase Team and other independent chasers across Tornado Alley and beyond!

Severe Studios offers many unique services, including: custom solutions for media, severe weather preparedness training sessions, interactive workshops and presentations, the "Live ChaseCam Network" that streams storm chases in real time, and a "Digital Weather Network" portal that combines the best local severe weather information in one easy-to-use interface.
