In our Summer Apprenticeship Program, we pay advanced Reel Grrls to make films for nonprofits. In 2011, Comcast stepped down as our funder for the program after seeing a tweet that we posted (watch "OMG: the RG/Comcast Story" for more details), and we changed the focus of the program to make videos about Media Justice and Media Reform issues. Partnering with the Center for Media Justice and Free Press, we made 5 awesome videos. Check 'em out!
In the Reel Grrls advanced "Media That Matters" filmmaking program, teenage girls make promotional videos for local non-profits. Through this program, students earn money as they learn how to work with a client to create a video tailored to their needs, and non-profits get a high-quality product free of charge.
