Yang Jing's works "Nine Jade Chains" and "Disclosure" each won both the composition as well as the performance prizes in the "Shanghai Spring Music Festival" in 1986, an achievement unmatched before or after. Her solo work "Dance along the Old Silk Road" again won both first prizes in the National Chamber Music Competition in 1993. This very composition was chosen by the jury as a competition piece for the national pipa competition in 2004. Her compositions were published simultaneously on a solo CD and DVD with the same name and in print (Hong Kong 2003). "In these last twenty extraordinary years of China's music development Yang Jing has marked her undoubted position as a leading soloist and composer". (Li Xi'An, Beijing China)

Daily rhythms of life are generated by circadian clocks that operate by transcriptional and translational feedback loops. Central components of the oscillators are PERIOD proteins containing PAS domains in tandem forming various homo- and/or hetero-dimers. Although fruit fly (Drosophila) and mammals have homologous PERIOD proteins, the homodimeric interactions between them exhibit structural differences suggesting the diversification of the machinery (ref. 1wa9.pdb: Yildiz et al. MolCel v17 p69, and 3gdi.pdb: Hennig et al. PLoSB v7 i4).

RNase secreted from pancreas is necessary to digest RNA in diet to utilize as nutrients, but if they happen inside cells, it could disrupt crucial cellular functions. Human ribonuclease inhibitor is a horseshoe-shaped protein and inhibits human pancreatic ribonuclease by tightly hugging and completely blocking the active site of the enzyme. This complex is one of the tightest intermolecular interactions known (1Z7X.pdb ref. Johnson et al. JMB v368 p434).
