I am a solo artist and work occasionally with friends in band line ups at festivals. I love nature. Born in the Black Country industrial centre of UK.Started playing guitar at 11 years of age. Fell in love with the 12 string acoustic guitar and added pick ups later. Worked in Gerald Durrell's Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust and played at night in the clubs. I learned about the shrinking natural world and extinct species at Jersey so I am pleased that the environment has become a major issue now but worried that we are reacting and changing far too slowly to reverse the effects of human activity. The new album 'Planet for $ale' donates profits to www.environmental-assistance.o rg charity.
After Jersey I became a full time gigging musician writing my own material. Recorded 10 albums. First two are now re-released. I experiment in my own studio with sounds from analog instruments that convey atmosphere. I've been living near the coast of Cornwall most of my adult life and write a lot about natural elements. I also play six string acoustic and electric guitars and dabble at Bass, Piano, Percussion and Santor which is a kind of Hammered Dulcimer. I often branch out into other styles of music trying to capture the natural world around me. I like music to sometimes take on issues that need airing. I have re-built and converted 2 barns over the last 20 years. One to live in and another one as my studio. Its hard to stay creative in music if it is the only thing I ever do so I have found that taking breaks from gigging and doing other creative things always leads back to the guitar and some new ideas. Thats why the new album 'Planet for $ale'was recorded over 9 years and is just released now. 'Ship to Shore' my first album has the same themes in a strange way as the new album 30 years later. I am just following my heart.
