Morehouse College, the nation's only all-male, liberal arts institution, is redefining the meaning of leadership. Today's leaders must have an appreciation for different perspectives and customs, and be prepared to navigate in our increasingly global society.

Located in Atlanta, Morehouse has a history of producing Renaissance men, like Nobel Peace Laureate Martin Luther King Jr. '48 and filmmaker Shelton "Spike" Lee '79, Voltaire Sterling '02, who appears in the film "The Great Debaters," and Oluwabusayo Topé Folarin '04, the College's third Rhodes Scholar. As Renaissance men--leaders with a social conscience--Morehouse graduates draw on their intellectual astuteness, spiritual discipline and moral compass to improve and advance their communities, the nation and the world.

"We are calling for the Renaissance of all men, especially men of color," Franklin said in a speech at the beginning of the school year. "Morehouse will be on the front line of that movement. You, gentlemen, have the opportunity to inject new energy and hope into the communities or villages that desperately await a Renaissance." That Renaissance will be led by Franklin, who was inaugurated Feb. 15, 2008 as the College's tenth president.

Forty years to the day after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. (Morehouse class of 1948), Morehouse College will serve as the international epicenter for a global webcast, "World House: Connecting the Global Community," that will bring together students, scholars, ambassadors and activists to revitalize King's vision of the "World House." The webcast will include discussion and performances from Morehouse College; Beijing, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; Nairobi, Kenya; Baroda, India and the University of Florida.

And it will all take place on the Internet.

Beginning on Friday, April 4, 2008, and continuing every Friday in April, World House: Connecting the Global Community will connect over an internationally-distributed, real-time network to bring together a diverse community that literally spans the globe.

Today, more than ever, the College's reputation — its public image — directly influences
its ability to recruit students, faculty and staff; raise funds; cope with change;
weather controversy; and compete in today's higher education marketplace.

A strong presence in the press has many benefits. Through enhancing the College's
image and reputation, news coverage of the people and programs at Morehouse helps raise
the College's visibility and tell our unique story.
