About Me:

Linda Kosut, a San Francisco-based nightclub singer, is known for her unique stylings of standards and pop tunes. She brings passionate, evocative and compelling interpretations to her music.

Kosut's repertoire covers the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, swing, songs from new composers, pop material, a little country and sometimes a little rock 'n roll!

She performs solo with jazz piano or guitar, also in jazz trio or ensemble with piano, bass, percussion, and horns, in concert and at private events.

Kosut's 2007 CD Release Tour "Long As You're Living," a tribute to jazz legend Oscar Brown Jr." was enthusiastically received in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and San Francisco. She toured with her musical director Max Perkoff (www.maxperkoff.com), jazz pianist and trombonist whose trombone can be heard on the Monk's Bones CD, which reached #10 on the jazz charts.

"She gives Brown's songs a fresh slant ... showcase her vocal ability ... bang in the groove ... slinky and sly in unraveling the blues ... mettle as a jazz singer." - Jerry D'Souza, All About Jazz

"a smoky plaintiveness ... with an edge" -- Albert Goodwyn, San Francisco Bay Times

"... a singer of great ability ... organic strength of her voice is deftly wielded ... conveys romance combined with a more earthy heat ... " -- Maxwell Chandler, jazzreview.com

"The sense of drama is something that this performer can call upon, and when she does, the act is at its most engaging." -- Rob Lester, cabaretexchange.com

"Linda can swing and vamp . . . , then switch to a poignancy required of Brown's more accessible material. . . . In paying tribute to Oscar Brown, Jr., Kosut brings this material alive for a new generation of listeners."

"The music, the poetry, everything about the show was outstanding. Yes, it was classic Jazz and very soul-filled. Yet to say only that is an understatement."

Linda Kosut grew up in a musical family and studied dance and piano as a young girl. After graduating college, she turned to the business world for her living, while continuing to study both music and acting. She began singing again in the mid-1990s and by 2003, had recorded her debut CD, Life is But a Dream -- an eclectic mix of jazz standards and popular tunes - was selected as one of the top female vocalist recordings that year by Cabaret Hotline Online in New York. She toured with her first performance show in early 2006, playing in New York and Los Angeles, as well as San Francisco. She's performed at many venues across the San Francisco Bay Area and is co-founder of the San Francisco vocal trio, the Kitchenettes, known for their swinging jazz rendition. The group has performed both in Northern California and Italy.
