Gulf Tides is Gulf Restoration Network's on-going video series on protecting and restoring the Gulf of Mexico. Early episodes were focused on monitoring the BP oil drilling disaster and exploring issues related to oil and dispersant impacts. The series has now expanded to encompass a broad range of the environmental issues facing the Gulf of Mexico and what we can do to address them.
Wear Blue for Oceans, in New Orleans. Cynthia Sarthou, Executive Director of Gulf Restoration Network; Dr. Steven Lohrenz, University of Southern Mississippi, Department of Marine Science; and Dr. Denise Reed, University of New Orleans, Department of Geology and Geophysics issued comments in support of a unifying, ecosystem-based national ocean policy and discussed why a national policy that protects, maintains, and restores our oceans and coasts is so necessary. More than thirty concerned citizens looked on and asked questions, and then gathered around Delta the Dolphin to show their support for a strong national ocean policy.
