Were you asleep during this years European Parliament election? That's when we voted in favour of the EU.
Of course I have. It's why I specifically describe the majority vote for the European election as 'pro-EU membership', which is what the Conservatives are. The British public holds a high number of eurosceptic people. We blatantly oppose a United States of Europe (like myself). But according to the election, we're still pro-EU membership. That's a simple fact.
We voted for a common market to help with trade, I must have fallen asleep when we voted for a federal state of europe.....lol
Described himself amirite?
But in a European Parliament election, UKIP isn't being asked to run the country. They're just being asked to take us out of the EU. Policy on Europe is top of the list in every voters mind. This can be seen in the rise of votes for UKIP, when compared to the 2005 General Election. Same goes for the BNP.
So why did a majority of the British public still vote for pro-EU parties? Why did they still vote for pro-EU policies? Why did they still vote for EU membership to continue?
The real power in the UK is drifting away very rapidly from the 3 (so-called) failed parties and by 2015 the scene will be set for the removal of the UK from the eu, this is, after all, what the MAJORITY want
No, TheOrder, I was talking about the European Parliament election, which took place this year. It differs from a General Election, in that people are able to exercise a free vote on the issue of Europe alone. Voters have the opportunity to put national issues aside.
The election took place after the UK had already ratified the treaty (which was in 2008), took place during the expenses scandal and also during other EU member states ratifying the treaty, meaning the anti-EU were in their element and their full force could be seen. UKIP finished second, right? You guys did great.
But taken as a poll on British feeling towards EU membership, and the majority voted for pro-EU membership parties. The majority of the British public are pro-EU.
