Jokes aside ... Greece isnt leaving. Germany isnt leaving. Infact if anything, the problems in Greece [and other places] is actually resulting in even tighter integration discussions.
For short.. we're fucked both ways. Who want's a icecream 50 guildercents?
"Greece is dealing with its problems of public finances," Papandreou said, "but if we need assistance, we expect the European Union could respond to this and this would be the best option."
All options remain open, however, he added.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, the prime minister said Greece is ahead of schedule with its economic reforms.
The "vast majority" of fiscal measures that needed to be in place by mid-May "are already passed and being implemented," he said.
Asked for his response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel's call for a mechanism to expel profligate members from the euro zone, Papandreou said there was "zero possibility" of Greece leaving the single European currency.
Greece has NOT asked for EU support as yet. According to the Wall Street Journal, the changes that have been put in place will see Greece meet the targets set.
But loads of news reports if one cares to look :)
