De Nederlandse Opera heeft als doel kwalitatieve en vernieuwende muziektheaterproducties uitbrengen waarin alle disciplines een gelijk aandeel hebben, en het bevorderen van de muziekdramatische kunst in Nederland, in het bijzonder door het geven van operavoorstellingen van hoog niveau in Het Muziektheater Amsterdam en door aanvullende activiteiten op andere locaties en via andere media.

Our purpose and goals are to provide innovative music theatre productions of high quality in which each theatrical discipline takes an equal part.
We strive to promote the art of music drama in the Netherlands through the presentation of opera performances of a high level in Amsterdam; we complement these performances with supplementary activities in other locations with different media.
