Tacking dipping lugsail, Beer lugger-style

Clew is hauled round luff by long sheet, led forward around sail & back to cleat, flipping yard across to lee side in process

That's one of the main points, of course: you don't want your head knocked off by the boom during a tack or gybe while you're hauling nets or crab pots, so the dipping lug was favoured by fisherman in the days of working sail.

Clever little boat! She is ideal for inland waters I should think; lots of room for her size - and I like the way she folds in half for transporting!

Tacking dipping lugsail No. 2

Slightly closer view. Note that there's a lot of rope to handle!

Yep. Except that you don't get the sail whipping across too quickly and making the boat roll violently. i.e. it's easier/safer than in a conventional gybe.
