Packaging industry - Branding - FMCG - Point of Sale - Central and Eastern Europe - Macro economics.

My channel is one of the most prolific from Poland, although not amongst the most visited. With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced around 1,000 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occasional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects

Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!

There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- http://www.ceepackaging.com - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.

Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!

Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

In 1997 I founded Polish Business News http://www.pbn.com.pl .There are a number of business related films here and I intend to do many more on CRM (customer relations management).

This site has been recently started by a friend and I think it will soon be one of the leading travel sites in Poland, if not Central Europe. It contains additional information about some of the places and events shown in these films but most of that is in Polish.

Interests and Hobbies: I am interested in the following subjects: 1. History, especially WW2 and have carried out original research on the Shoah and death camps on the Bug river some of which is available here. 2. Politics and economics. I believe in economic liberalism and am opposed to government interference. Bureaucracy engenders corruption. 3. Geography and travel. I have travelled extensively in Europe. I placed more than eleven hours of film of a journey I made around Europe in March 2007. 4. I know several languages but am not particularly interested in linguistics. I will be adding some films sometime in the future about history and a new look at traditionally held beliefs.
Movies and Shows: The Life of Brian is the best film ever made followed by Blazing Saddles, Apocalypse Now, Moonraker, The World is not Enough, The Bounty, Der Untergang, The Bridge at Remagen, The Good, the bad and the ugly, Magnum Force, Spartacus, the Great Escape, Shaft, On Her Majesties Secret Service .. and probably a lot more... Comedies (All of which you can see here on You Tube!!): Black Adder, New Statesman, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Spitting Images, Not the nine o'clock news It seems as though all the episodes of the NEW STATESMAN have been uploaded here on You Tube!!!!!!!! This is great news and I suggest we all write to the Queen that this person be recommended for at least an OBE!
Music: Sound tracks from James Bond films especially On Her Majesties Secret Service and Live and Let Die (although Octopussy is weak and as for Die another Day and Casino Royale - I did not bother!!). Soundtracks from other films especially Apocalypse Now, Ogien i Miecz, The Bounty, Rambo My favourite musician is John Barry. Popular: 1976 - 1985 Frankie Goes to Hollywood, New Romantic, disco Have written songs since 1975. Performed own song Disko w Dorohusku on Polish television channel one (TVP1) in May 2004.
Books: I have a huge collection of books. I think for originality I must give the award for the best history book to Monty Python star Terry Jones for his book on the Crusades which was backed by an equally light (yet very informative) series. This is an example of history at its best. Novels: Jackie Collins is a good read. I have also read some of Jeffrey Archer although not much

A day in Olomouc

Olomouc - pearl of Central Europe - and this is probably only scratching the surface. Three weeks later and I am still on a high over this visit!

Olomouc became one of the most important settlements in Moravia in the Middle Ages. The city itself was founded in mid-thirteenth century and became one of the most important trade and power centres in the region. In the Middle Ages it was the biggest town in Moravia and competed with Brno for the position of the capital. Olomouc lost finally after the Swedes took the city for eight years (1642-1650).

The second half of the fifteenth century is what can be viewed as the start of Olomouc's golden age. However, during the Thirty Years' War, in 1640, Olomouc was occupied by the Swedes for eight years. They left the city in ruins and so it ceded its position to Brno. Olomouc was then fortified by Maria Theresa during the wars with Frederick the Great, who besieged the city unsuccessfully for seven weeks in 1758. In 1848 Olomouc was the scene of the emperor Ferdinand's abdication, and in 1850 an important conference between Austrian and German statesmen called Punctation of Olmütz took place here. At the conference German Confederation was restored and Prussia submitted its leadership to the Austrians.

The bakery next to the Bełżec death camp

This is an interview of Gisela who lived and worked next to the Nazi death camp at Belzec. She was 17 when the Nazis built the camp as part of their 'Final Solution' to the Jewish Question.
The Nazi death camp was operational through most of 1942. In the space of around eight months the Nazis murdered around 450,000 people here. Once they had finished killing at this camp, Belzec remained open for a further eight months for the destruction of the bodies on three or four massive pyres.
Here Gisela describes what life was like when the death camp was running and what she remembers of that time.

I have just been to Verdun and I think it is a jolly nice little town with nice canals and charming streets - more than I can say for Volgograd as Stalingrad is known today. In return I gave him some cash that I had printed. Only he did not want to accept it. Just goes to show that some people believe that they are better than others.
	alanheath (1 day ago) In 1935 I went to the Nuremburg rally and found it most disappointing. There were a lot of storm troopers and a silly little man with a toothbrush moustache that shouted a lot and did a John Cleese impression but nowhere did I see any motorbikes.
	alanheath (1 day ago) I was at the check out in Tescos last week when suddenly a UFO from the planet Thurg landed and several grey humanoid figures got out and went into Tescos to get some onions as it appears their ship uses it for fuel. Whilst in there, their UFO was attacked by two battle cruisers from the Blarp system which is at war with the Thurgians. They landed some green dog like creatures which proceeded to laser everything in site. Henry Kissinger turned up and started to negotiate a peace treaty or a cease fire allowing people to finish their shopping. It did not hold and it was just like something out of star wars or a video game. Unfortuantely I do not know what happened in the end as my wife insisted we go as it was expulsion night on Big Brother!
