Christians claim that Jesus shedding his blood on the cross was a necessary condition for the their god to forgive sins. However, the biblical texts, especially the Hebrew scriptures, say a number of different things about how the biblical god forgives sins -- many of which have nothing to do with blood sacrifice in general or Jesus in particular. In fact, many of the passages dismiss such sacrifices as unnecessary. It seems Jesus' "sacrifice" may have been unnecessary.

Scott, I am also someone who is sceptical of the existence of any kind of supernatural being for lack of a better term,. I like listening to what you have to say. I face a dilemma and that is, if one does not believe in the existence of any kind of higher power or afterlife, than how does one deal with the fact that we will never have the opportunity to be reunited with loved ones or pets that have died or friends or family that we have been separated from?

When you said the Bible condoned beating a child, I believed you were implying that the Bible condoned child abuse. And anyone else who saw that video would say the same. I cited those verses to you to show that, lo and behold, the Bible DOESN'T condone it. And though I myself believe slavery to be wrong, I've seen no Bible verse take a definite stance on the righteousness thereof.

You may have read the Bible cover to cover, but it's clear to me that you don't understand it.

Hey, I just wanted to inform you that I stumbled across your video "God's Checklist" and it completely threw me for a loop, It caused all sorts of doubts and questions, and just about drained all "faith" within me. But instead of giving up, I've started reading, researching, interviewing and compiling my own "list" and i'm bent on responding to your check list with soild answers. I just wanted to take the time to THANK YOU for throwing my life for a complete loop which may end up making me into what appears to be a crazy 22 year old doubter of faith.
