Blog 27 - Before I'll die...
Blog 27's new album is a mix of styles like pop punk, hip hop, punk electro, pop rock, pop and dance. All the lyrics and music are written by leader and vocalist Tola. Tola is also a co-producer of the album (together with producers group called Plastic).
"The songs were written out of suffering and tears" says Tola, "They show that I'm not perfect, but I am me; they give a good idea of what I feel, what I am going through."
"The lyrics come out naturally." Tola tells us about the process, "They're always a good cure to everything bad in my life... then I sit down to the piano and I try out different melodies, different chords. Usually, when I write lyrics, I already have an idea of a melody in my head. Then I record a demo, singing and playing piano. I bring it to the studio, and tell the Plastic team  how I see it, for example what kind of guitar and beat I want. Also, I tell them how this song should make someone feel... for example "Cry and Die" is soooo sad;)
Plastic also had some good ideas, and of course they are more experienced - I'm just learning... so we combined our ideas."
How about the style?
"I wasn't really thinking if I want a rock album or a hip-hop album or whatever style." Tola continues "I was just going with my feelings, playing with all kinds of styles, even though some of them seemed to not fit for some people, but I went with what I liked,  It's very personal."
"Before I'll die...or will I die before my dreams come true, I achieve my goals, and die fulfilled...? I'm striving towards happiness, I realized life is too short to only be aware of something, I aim to DO whatever I think is right - always ... and this album is a very important thing I want to do before I'll die...it's a huge part of me. It's real, very real."
Blog 27 is a huge phenomenon in Poland -- but also gained popularity in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Taiwan, where the band's debut album, <lol> was released over 2 years ago. In Poland alone, the album reached double platinum sales!
Lead vocalist, Tola, is not just another show-biz kid. She's a unique mix of charismatic, explosive, scandalous, naughty, and natural talent. Controversial by nature, loved by millions of teens -- Blog 27 is a band that turns heads.
- Tola is the youngest winner of MTV Europe Music Award ever! She was just 13!
- Her single "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)" was named as one of top 5 singles of 2006, according to Chuck Eddy, senior editor of Billboard Magazine
- she is a recipient of the EBBA Award (European Border Breaker Award, which honors artists who achieved top sales outside their own country), presented during the international acclaimed music trade fair, MIDEM 2007 .
- YouTube users and Blog 27 fans posted over 4300 videos of the band. The most popular one has had more than 370 000 views.
- The band's official website exceeded 5 million hits in Spring, 2007
- Blog 27 took over Germany's AOL mobile phone video download charts holding two of the TOP 5 places all of July 2006: "Hey Boy" at nr. 4 and "Uh la la la" at nr. 5.
- Over 35 compilations released in Germany featured Blog 27 singles.
- Italian automaker Fiat chose "Uh la la la" as the soundtrack for their summer television promotional campaign, "Operazione Five" in Italy.
- For the first time, Asian entertainment giants Avex Japan and Universal Music Japan joined forces on this project: the release of Blog 27's debut album.
- In the week of <lol>'s release in Japan, Sept. 13, 2006 "Uh la la la" hit nr. 1 on Japanese airplay charts
- Now we can also see Tola and hear her new songs, in a new TV series aired on TVN, Poland's largest commercial TV station.
