The Jagaran Media Center, based in Kathmandu, Nepal, works to eliminate caste discrimination through the use of media as a social advocacy tool. The JMC was established by journalists from the Dalit community those considered to be untouchables within the caste system. SAP-Nepal, in collaboration with SAS Net-Nepal and Yatra, launched the international campaign to "Disarm Domestic Violence." More than 60 supporters biked to major political party offices, delivering a memorandum of policy suggestions to top party officials. Officials from the following political parties signed a commitment to end armed domestic violence during the rally: the UCPN-Maoist party, the Madhesee Youth Forum - Nepal (MJF), the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) party, and the Nepali Congress (NC).

Liberal presidential hopeful and former Chief Prosecutor Alfonso Gómez Mendez told El Tiempo that if elected President, he would impose general disarmament in the country. Although he is only a minor candidate and not the favorite of the party, his strong position on the issue is still noteworthy.

This is an approximate translation of his speech to El Tiempo: Not a day goes by without us hearing on the radio, seeing on television or reading in the newspapers that citizens, innocent citizens, are victims of what we have come to call the stray bullets. This is a result of the fact that many people own arms in this country. If I become president, I will implement a policy of general disarmament. The only people who can use weapons are members of the police, the army and State security forces, but citizens have no reason to be armed. I will regain the States monopoly of the use of arms. We citizens must trust them and cease to bear arms.

Interview with the Founder and President of the Association for Defence of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran (ADAPP). Zamani discusses the current elections crisis and why Azerbaijani provinces in Iran have been relatively quiet compared to Tehran.

The Association for the Defence of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners (ADAPP) works on the human rights situation facing Irans minorities, and in particular, the Azerbaijani Turkic community. Iranian Azerbaijanis are mainly Shia Muslims and are acknowledged as Irans largest minority, where they are generally believed to constitute between 25-30 percent of the population. The Azerbaijani Turkic society is mainly in the north and north-west of Iran, although significant communities are found throughout the country. In recent years, they have been calling for greater cultural and linguistic rights, such as the right to education in the Azerbaijani-Turkic language, and the right to celebrate Azerbaijani culture and history. However, these demands are violently suppressed by the Iranian authorities, resulting in execution, torture, persecution and imprisonment of Azerbaijani human rights activists.
