Tides of Change Community Action Team

On April 14th, 2016 the province of British Columbia declared a state of emergency throughout BC related to the overdose crisis. To respond to the crisis, regional health authorities engaged with community services providers, first responders, people with lived/living experience, and municipalities to plan for collaborative community action to develop and implement strategies for overdose prevention and response. These groups are called Community Action Teams (CATs). South Surrey/White Rock CAT formed their CAT, in the summer of 2018 under Tides of Change. Like the Pacific Ocean that borders White Rock, the tide is in a constant state of change, it is the goal of the Tides of Change group to change the tide of overdose impacting our community. By doing so, we intend to create a community where people are not stigmatized for engaging in substance use and raising awareness about the toxicity of the illicit drug supply -- all in an effort to save lives!
