Refuge Art School

Refuge Lowell provides a safe, equitable space for local students to explore their talents and develop as artists through nurturing, mentorship, and rigorous arts instruction.

The heart of our mission is to bridge the inequity gaps in the public school system by identifying talented students who may not be able to afford or have access to enrichment in the arts. We provide scholarships to these students so that they have the opportunity to develop as professional artists, creative problem-solvers, and compassionate critical thinkers in their community.

Additionally, we guide high school students who are applying to college through portfolio development and rigorous technical instruction. Refuge students have been able to attend their top choice schools, including Mass Art, RISD, Pratt, SCAD, and FIT. Our passion to build up young artists and help ensure that they put their strongest work forward in the professional world ahead of them is what drives our mission.
