European Stability Mechanism (ESM)

The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is the crisis resolution mechanism for euro area countries. Like its predecessor -- the temporary European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) -- the ESM provides financial assistance to euro area Member States experiencing or threatened by financing difficulties.
