The red lines show the breaks between measures. The yellow highlighting gives you an approximate indication of where you are in the song. The guitar leads should be played on the D mixolydian scale, i.e. a major scale with a flat seventh. The D arpeggio parts should be played with an occasional 7th note or suspended 4th. I used a synth voice at the beginning of the song, but not during the choruses. I laid down a part for this but it did not sound right so I scrapped it.
