In cat canyon at the San Diego Zoo are two gorgeous mountain lions seen here. (Speaking in the background with information is keeper Daniel- he has funny and interesting stories!)

Puma, cougar, panther, or mountain lion ....all names can be used
They live in North and South America from up in the Yukon to as far south as the Andes. Females can be 100 pounds, males 160 pounds, they tend to be smaller at the equator and get larger at the poles. Mountain lions do not roar like the big cats but they do vocalize with low-pitched hisses, growls, screams, and purrs, as well as chirps and whistles.

Here pictured are a female and male. (They are not planning on breeding them). Most shots are of the female. The male is more shy hiding in a cave in the back. I love her beautiful face markings. A wonderful animal, so full of play. (see other mountain lion videos)
