Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Sweetums come to Disneyland to promote volunteerism with a bunch of their friends as a part of the pre-parade before Celebrate: A Street Party.
Kermit, Miss Piggy, Sweetums and a host of honorary Disney voluntEARS made their way down the parade route at Disneyland as a part of the Year to Volunteer. A jazzed up strain of the theme to The Muppet Show started things off and then morphed into the "Celebrate" theme. The Muppets have been central in the promotion of the Year to Volunteer and have been seen on several commercials. This is all part of the Give a Day, Get a Day at Disney promotion. For this, 1 million volunteers will get free admission to Disneyland or Walt Disney World for a day of volunteering with an approved charity.
The Muppets were created by Jim Hensen and were purchased by the Walt Disney Company in 2004. They also are working on a new movie entitled The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made. This movie was written by Jason Segal who states that "it's going to be incredibly old-fashioned, with the familiar Muppet characters putting on a show to save an old theater. The danger? An evil character wants to tear the place down to get at the oil underneath."
This is a video of their first public performance at Disneyland on January 8, 2009.
